Evergreen Indemnity was founded and operated by privately owned campground and RV park owners in 1986 during the aftermath of the insurance crisis of 1985, an event that resulted in higher premiums and decreased access to insurance for many campground and RV parks. Traditional insurance companies did not understand the nature of the outdoor recreation business. During the insurance crisis, many park owners were either unable to secure insurance coverage, or were faced with unaffordable premiums. Evergreen Indemnity continues to be the only insurance company operated solely for and by the outdoor recreation industry.
